Guardswoman Robin Ravenswood (code name Round Strawberry) is the Centralia Honor Guard officer currently serving as the personal bodyguard to Princess Alice.

Appearance

Ravenswood is a young woman with pink hair, usually worn in twintails, and thick-rimmed glasses. She almost looks too young to be a member of a military service, let alone an elite royal guard, but the Princess assures us that she is qualified for her role.

In her capacity as a security officer for the Princess, Ravenswood typically wears the standard Centralia Honor Guard dress uniform, consisting of a pink military tunic and a white skirt. In place of the standard rank insignia, Ravenswood's uniform features a small emblem of a strawberry. When asked what this emblem denotes, Ravenswood simply responded "I like strawberries."

On some occasions Ravenswood can be seen wearing hot-pink body armor featuring patches of the Centralian national flag and her name, R. RAVENSWOOD. Nobody has yet been able to observe a pattern as to when or why she chooses to wear this "tactical" gear instead of her usual attire.

Some have noted that Robin Ravenswood bears a startling resemblance to Strawberry Jams frontwoman Carly Ravenswood. Ravenswood herself says "Eh, I don't see it."

Personality

Ravenswood demonstrates extreme hyperactivity, often rapidly jumping from one activity to another. By her own admission, she find it difficult to focus on a single subject unless she personally finds it interesting.

Ravenswood is also known for her impulsive behavior, frequently making decisions with no consideration for future consequences, as demonstrated when she went "window shopping" at Ante Meridiem Electronics during a trip to Edge City and returned with a top-of-the-line gaming rig, two vintage CRT TVs, and a broken 1990s telephone.

Ravenswood has a strange manner of speaking, often quoting song lyrics, repeating phrases from common signs ("Right lane must turn right, bub!"), and even forming outright nonsense sentences ("Sell my gloves to an unmarried florist or Dave will rent a mausoleum!"), sometimes including non-words such as "brazeeb'd". Somehow, Princess Alice manages to understand her perfectly, though nearly everyone else does not.

Relationships

Princess Alice

Ravenswood was introduced to Princess Alice while assigned to a minor patrol post during the Princess's public appearance at the opening of a new children's hospital in Sunset Valley. The Princess, while waiting backstage, got into an argument with her personal bodyguard over smartphone case stickers, culminating in her "dismissing" him and demanding to assign a new guard to his position. The Princess selected Ravenswood to fill the role, on the basis that she was "the cutest one here, besides me."

The Princess quickly took a liking to Ravenswood, calling her "my new favorite plaything." The Princess went on to retain Ravenswood as her new de facto personal bodyguard, though this arrangement has never been formalized.

Princess Alice seems to be the only person who can comprehend Ravenswood's seemingly nonsensical statements.

  • Robin Ravenswood: You know? The unmarked fishing post hasn't intervened with regards to the apple truck fees yet.
  • Peter Pomeroy: What?
  • Princess Alice: You heard her! That unmarked fishing post hasn't done anything about those apple truck fees!

Peter Pomeroy

As the royal guard assigned to supervise Princess Alice at Dame Adorabelle's Academy, Ravenswood has been tasked to work with Peter Pomeroy, the academy's security guard, to coordinate protective services for the Princess.

Ravenswood, reasoning that an omnipotent construct of pure magic needs little in the way of earthly protection, tends to leave the Princess free to do whatever she pleases. Pomeroy, objecting to Ravenswood's hands-off attitude, often atttempts to intervene, to little effect. In one instance, Pomeroy attempted to follow the Princess into a crowded street during a festival. He disappeared for a few minutes before coming back to hassle Ravenswood, who was peacefully sitting on the sidewalk at the corner enjoying some kettle corn with the Princess.

Ravenswood often finds Pomeroy unnecessarily overbearing. On several occasions, he has knocked on her door at strange hours of the morning, waking her up, to insist that she attend a "meeting" of some kind. When Ravenswood gives in and attends Pomeroy's meetings, Pomeroy lectures her for browsing Blathr on her phone or staring idly out the window, despite her insistence that she can easily focus on her phone and a face-to-face conversation at the same time, or that she doesn't need to take notes because she has an exceptional memory.

Pomeroy has threatened several times to complain to Ravenswood's superiors, but nothing has ever come of it.

Living quarters

In her capacity as the Princess's personal bodyguard, Ravenswood resides part-time at Dame Adorabelle's Academy in Havensborough. Despite the Princess having attended Dame Adorabelle's for as long as anyone can remember, the school is not equipped with permanent living quarters for her royal guards, so Ravenswood stays in a stock student room in West Dormitory, adjacent to Princess Alice's own room. Because Princess Alice does not need to use a toilet and rarely takes a shower unless she is nagged to, Ravenswood has informally "taken over" their shared bathroom.

Weapons and gear

Ravenswood's service weapon is a hot pink bubblegun. A bubblegun is a pistol that shoots gumballs instead of bullets. They splat into a sticky mess of bubblegum when they hit somebody. It's totally a real thing. No, don't look it up.

When in her "tactical" garb, Ravenswood sometimes carries what appears to be a large rifle. For some reason, her totally real rifle has an orange tip. When this was pointed out to her, she just shrugged and said "Sometimes the underwriter of the urban legend really is a carousel operator" before turning her attention to a nearby vending machine.

Notable incidents

Trapped in the toybox

While patrolling the palace on a stormy June evening, Ravenswood noticed the Princess's toybox had been left open. Upon peeking inside, she fell into the toybox, which somehow latched, locking her inside. Ravenswood would remain trapped in the toybox for several hours, entertaining herself with the Princess's die-cast cars. Eventually, the Princess, returning from a playdate, found Ravenswood and set her free.
