Minerva Park (birth name Minerva Slaughter) is a special investigator with the Intelligence, Research, and Investigations Service (IRIS).
Early years
Minerva Slaughter was born in Sterling Township in the Zeor state of Lakeland, where she grew up alongside her sister, Nyx. For her first year of high school, Minerva was selected to attend the Blue Rose Academy in Edge City, which she believed to be a prestigious private school. In reality, the Blue Rose Academy was a front for an IRIS recruitment facility. Minerva was inducted as an IRIS operative at age 15 and assumed the name Minerva Park. (She had to beg her handlers to let her keep the same first name.)
Upon "graduating" from the supposed academy, Minerva devised a cover story for her family. She claimed to be employed as a postal inspector in Edge City, going so far as to fabricate a counterfeit badge. "I mostly do boring stuff like investigating mail fraud," she once told Nyx.
The Book of Equestrianism
One of Minerva's first investigations under IRIS was an effort to decipher the bizarre encrypted text of the Book of Equestrianism. Upon noticing her work was attracting unwanted attention from dubious parties, Minerva transferred possession of the book to her sister for safekeeping. Mere days later, Nyx was found dead alongside her husband Khan Mann. The current whereabouts of the book are unknown—at least to Minerva.
Nyx's daughter, Zeor teen detective Hybris, is aware of Minerva's existence, but she does not know Minerva is her aunt, nor does she know of Minerva's history with the Book of Equestrianism, which she found among her late mother's possessions. Hybris has, however, deduced that Minerva is not a real postal inspector: Minerva's fake badge features the seal of the government of Edge City, but Edge City is served by the Royal Post of Centralia, so real postal inspector badges, even in Edge City, display the seal of the Centralian crown.
Rido Lenni case
Minerva's current assignment, under the direct supervision of Edge City governor Andrew S. Stanton, is to find and apprehend Rido Lenni, the teenage boy who acquired psychic powers after inadvertently wandering into an IRIS experiment at Leawood Memorial Hospital.
