Royal Centralia Civil Guard

The Royal Centralia Civil Guard is the national police service of Centralia, a division of the Ministry of Public Safety.

Constable Payne seems to be the only officer employed Royal Centralia Civil Guard.

Organization

While the Civil Guard is formally styled as a gendarmerie, in practice, little about it is military in nature, in keeping with the broadly pacifist nature of Centralian politics. Princess Meredith has acknowledged that she chose the name "Royal Centralia Civil Guard" just because it sounds cooler than "Police Department".

The Royal Highway Patrol is the division of the Royal Centralia Civil Guard responsible for enforcement of traffic codes.

Jurisdiction

While the Civil Guard exercises nationwide jurisdiction, its service primarily focus on unincorporated areas, municipalities with populations under 50,000, and Crown properties within larger municipalities. Municipalities with a population of 50,000 or greater generally maintain their own local police agencies, though for some reason it's still always Constable Payne who responds. She's just wearing a slightly different badge depending on which city's police department she says she works for that day.
