The Centralia Guard Forces are the military defense force of Centralia.

While Centralia has never been to war--despite Supreme Leader Malice's many attempts to goad Princess Alice into declaring war on Discordantia--the Crown maintains armed forces, ostensibly for the purpose of self-defense. In practice, however, the Centralia Guard Forces mostly serve to protect the rest of Centralia from the Princess herself.

Branches

The Centralia Guard Forces comprise five branches:

The Land Guard, Naval Guard, and Air Guard are based out of a shared headquarters in Queen City nicknamed The Star. The headquarters of the Magic Guard appear as a nondescript storefront in downtown Queen City, enchanted so that none can enter without authorization.

The Centralia Honor Guard is the branch of the CGF tasked with protecting the Princess. The Honor Guard formally has no home base, instead traveling with the princess, though in practice semi-permanent installations are maintained at the Palace of Serenity in Queen City and Dame Adorabelle's Academy in Havensborough, the two locations where Princess Alice spends most of her time.

Uniforms

Uniforms of the CGF are typically pink in color. Bright pink is, of course, not very conducive to camouflage, but it kind of doesn't matter, since the CGF never actually engages in combat.

Almost all officers of the CGF have medals and decorations adorning their uniforms. Nobody knows where they come from, since as far as anybody can tell, they were never actually awarded in any formal capacity. Some have speculated that someone sneaks in at night and adds more medals while the officers are sleeping. 1

Princess Alice's involvement

Despite nominally being the commander-in-chief, Princess Alice has little involvement in the day-to-day operations of the CGF. When she does get involved, all she usually does is show up at a CGF facility in the uniform of a general or admiral to "remind" the officers that she outranks them. (She has also tried this with the faculty at Dame Adorabelle's Academy, who are quick to remind her that the school is a privately-owned civilian facility.)

Princess Alice has a habit of giving "promotions" to CGF personnel she personally likes, resulting in fairly nonsensical distribution of ranks and titles. This has led most branches of the CGF to develop their own informal chain of command, as the Princess's meddling has rendered the official chain of command incomprehensible.
