The Royal Summer Festival is an annual celebration held from July 30th to August 10th, commemorating Princess Alice's birthday. Famously, this is one of the few times a year that members of Centralian royalty make public appearances...or it would be, if the princesses weren't just, like, casually going out in public all the time anyways. (In their defense, it gets pretty boring staying locked up in a palace all day.)

Events

Queen City

Most of the festivities of the Royal Summer Festival take place at the Royal Centralia Fairgrounds, just north of the city center, though other venues throughout Queen City have been known to put on special events during the 12-day celebration. Tourists arrive from all over Centralia, and sometimes even neighboring nations, to partake in the festivities. It has been rumored that the ruler of Discordantia, Supreme Leader Malice, has attended the festival, though she categorically denies such rumors.

During the festivities at the Royal Centralia Fairgrounds, the various princesses, and other important figures of royalty and nobility, make special appearances before the people of Centralia, culminating with an address from Princess Alice herself on the festival's final day. Although this is Princess Alice's only formal appearance at the event, she, of course, simply cannot resist the temptation of fair food and carnival rides, and so she spends the preceding days partaking in the festivities in civilian attire. This, of course, requires a large presence of undercover Centralia Honor Guard personnel--in addition to the uniformed personnel providing security and crowd control for the event--to keep the princess out of trouble. There is a very good chance that any stranger one happens to interact with at the fair is secretly a member of the Honor Guard.

Other festivals

While the major celebrations take place in Queen City, many cities and towns across Centralia hold smaller celebrations during the 12-day festival. In Sunset Valley, for example, a Princess Alice lookalike contest is held, with the winner getting to play the role of the princess in a parade on the festival's final day. Other cities have traditions specific to their geographic location, such as the coastal city Buttercup Bay hosting a public appearance from the Princess of the Ocean.
