Nanami Takanashi is a middle school student from the Wormwood neighborhood of Edge City. Her best friends are Rido Sterling and Madison Ravenswood, with whom she performs as the bassist of the pop punk band Wormwood Avenue.

Rido and Madison have not told Nanami about Rido's psychic powers or his ongoing efforts to evade IRIS, but this did not stop her from rescuing the two from an attempted abduction by firing her paintball gun at Minerva Park and 161 from atop a nearby hill. (Rido's sister, Sapphire, had tipped her off.)
