Asterians

  • "I know it sounds vain as all get-out coming from me, but...aren't the stars simply beautiful tonight? Doesn't the night sky just make you want to cry?"
  • Princess Alice, admiring her kin from afar

The Asterians are young stars who have assumed incarnate form to live among various societies throughout the universe. Notable Asterians include Princess Alice, Princess Meredith, and Supreme Leader Malice.

The name Asterian derives from the Greek aster, meaning "star".

Incarnation and stellar adolescence

As a sacred rite of passage, young stars assume the form of a corporeal being and live among them throughout their adolescence. While several Asterians have come to Earth to live among humans, there are countless other Asterians living among countless other races throughout the universe.

While their earthly incarnation represents only a small portion of a star's overall lifetime, the vast difference in timescale between human lifespan and stellar lifespan means that, from the perspective of humans, Asterians appear to remain adolescents indefinitely. For what it's worth, Princess Alice doesn't seem to mind repeating the eighth grade for centuries.

Abilities

Asterians possess expansive supernatural power, seemingly able to manipulate reality at will. Some Asterians—well, mostly Princess Alice—have claimed to be literally omnipotent. This claim is, of course, impossible to meaningfully prove or disprove, which likely explains why Alice is so fond of it.
