Sheriff Mercury often has to investigate the murders that tend to happen around Lady Hybris. Understandably, he finds this a little exasperating. By his own admission, the only reason he hasn't retired is that nobody else is willing to run for the office of sheriff due to the staggering number of crimes in Union County.
