The Principal Highway was the first Crown-funded highway in Centralia. Stretching from Centralia's west coast in ButtercupBay to the Discordantia border in EdgeCity, the Principal Highway was established by PrincessMeredith early in her reign as a way to promote trade between various regions of Centralia.
The present-day Principal Highway exists in two segments, the West Principal Highway, designated C-1, which runs west from QueenCity to the coast at ButtercupBay, and the East Principal Highway, designated C-6 1 , which runs east from Queen City to the Discordantia border in EdgeCity. The two segments technically do not connect, as continuity is broken by the so-called "Honeycomb" freeway network in downtown Queen City.
While the modern alignment of the Principal Highway is a fully controlled-access freeway, the original alignment, dating back to Princess Meredith's reign, still exists in several discontinuous stretches, and is fully signed as a historic route.
