== Function ==
The Waistcoat of Conspicuity takes the form of a lightweight, brightly-colored (typically orange or lime green) vest adorned with stripes of reflective material. Upon donning the vest, the wearer gains the ability to manipulate the movement of vehicles by motioning with their hands. Some practitioners also employ an illuminated wand, especially at night.
Vehicles under the command of the Waistcoat of Conspicuity include cars, trucks, buses, bicycles, scooters, farm equipment, and those little motorized shopping carts they have at the grocery store, among others.
The vest projects a magic barrier that protects the wearer from being struck by a vehicle, even deliberately. Vehicles, however, are not immune to collisions with other vehicles or objects, so practitioners must undergo several months of training to learn to use the vest's power safely and effectively.

The Waistcoat of Conspicuity does not grant control over vehicles that run on a fixed track, such as trains, trolleys, or sadly, even rollercoasters.

Traffic marshals of the [[Royal Traffic Authority]] are issued Waistcoats of Conspicuity authorized by [[Princess Alice]] in her right as the sovereign of Centralia. Issuance of these vests is overseen by the RTA’s chief officer, [[Amber Beacon]].
Unauthorized Waistcoats of Conspicuity have been used by robbers to hijack trucks carrying valuable goods. They don’t usually get very far, but that hasn't stopped people from trying.
