Laura Aashto is a character in the Centralian supernatural teen drama series Stellar, played by Hybris, who I guess is now an actress in addition to a detective.
Laura in the library
Laura is nominally a student at New Salem High School, but she rarely attends classes, preferring to spend her days shut up in the school's unrealistically large library. Stella and Rudolf often rely on Laura's research skills to help them confront the supernatural problems that keep happening in their lives.
Laura habitually sits at the same study carrel in the far corner of the library's upper floor, by the window. This seat is not formally reserved, but the other students acknowledge it as "Laura's spot" and leave it available for her. In the episode "Chair Woman", Laura suffered a panic attack after finding her usual chair had been moved from its spot. Stella and Rudolf, upon searching the library, discovered the chair had been taken by a freshman, unaware of its importance to Laura. After a polite but awkward discussion, the freshman returned the chair.
On the rare occasions that Laura leaves the library during the day, she wears an oversized hoodie--even during warmer months--and a large pair of noise-cancelling headphones. She usually demands to be accompanied by Stella or Rudolf rather than going out alone, and she avoids contact with strangers as much as possible.
Laura the Detective
A Detective by birth, Laura possesses an infallibly perfect memory. She is is able to recall anything she has ever experienced with 100% absolute perfect detail and accuracy. Her stated reasoning for choosing a library as her safe space is that it provides vast amounts of information for her to absorb.
Laura is the granddaughter of the legendary private detective Roosevelt Aashto. Despite Laura's family having lost contact with Roosevelt before she was born, the Witches Council has officially tasked Laura with continuing her grandfather's investigation into The Inquisitors, an infamous group of self-appointed "witch hunters".
In the episode "Watching the Detectives", Stella sent Laura back to 198X to confer with Roosevelt about his investigation, only for Laura to have to help her future grandfather overcome his social anxiety and approach her future grandmother, Cassandra. The episode features a comedic scene in which Laura attempts to feed Roosevelt lines for Cassandra by communicating through her Bluetooth headphones, which she happened to be wearing when she was transported back in time.
In the episode "Aashto to Ashes", Laura learned that "Roy", the proprietor of popular New Salem hangout Roy's Diner, is, in reality, her grandfather Roosevelt, who had distanced himself from his family for their protection. ("Roy" was Cassandra's affectionate shortening of "Roosevelt".)
