Police officers are the civil servants nominally responsible for enforcing Centralian laws and upholding public order. At least, that's what they think they do. In practice, most of what they do is evacuate crowded public places when big monsters show up so the magical girls can fight them without collateral damage. They spend a lot of time shouting "RUN!" and "THAT WAY! HURRY!" while waving their arms ineffectually.

Sometimes they direct traffic too.

The national police agency of Centralia is the Royal Centralia Civil Guard. The agency's traffic division is called the Royal Highway Patrol. Larger municipalities, such as Buttercup Bay or Riverside, typically maintain their own police departments, and the special prefecture of Queen City maintains the Queen City Metropolitan Police.

If you're dealing with the police in Centralia, you'll most likely encounter Constable Jennifer Payne. So likely, in fact, that if you encounter any other cop, they're probably a phony. If that happens, you should call Constable Payne about it, maybe.

The Edge City Police Department has a reputation as one of the most pestiferous in the region. They employ a lot officers, but they have few worthwhile things for the officers to do, so they just kind of go around and hassle people for no reason. Baby Blue in particular has grown rather tired of Officer Lestrade hanging around her shop trying to flirt with her. Take a freakin' hint, man.

Somehow, despite their seemingly constant presence, the ECPD has never managed to stop Minerva Park of IRIS from constantly harassing a couple of 14-year-olds.

Police in Zeoria are generally well-organized and professional, but they are also woefully incompetent. In Sterling Township, local sheriff Ford Lincoln Mercury has had to depend on a random 15-year-old named Hybris to solve literally hundreds of homicide cases. (In Mercury's defense, it's a little strange that so many homicides happen in a town with fewer than 2,000 residents in the first place.)

Lately, Chief Madeline Powers of the ZIT Police Department in Bowling Green has been relying on help from Hybris, too, though Powers seems to have better situational awareness than the deputies in Sterling Township.
